dreamm goes global

Over the past year dreamm have been fortunate to work on a number of global projects for a couple of our large, multinational clients.

The projects have been extremely varied, challenging and rewarding.

The variety

We've worked on anything from an e-learning programme to support a new product launch to the development of an online application to support the roll-out of a global competency initiative. So far, we've developed solutions in the following languages:

  • English
  • French
  • Italian
  • German
  • Spanish
  • Japanese
  • Polish
  • Korean
  • Thai
  • Chinese
  • Brazilian Portuguese

The challenges

Without a doubt the biggest challenges have been changing project structures and language translations. Unfortunately, changes to project structures is just something that can occur in any project. And, as much as you may factor this in, ultimately it's out of your control when those changes occur client side. Often, it's even out of their control. Therefore, all you can do is 'flex'. There's no point being rigid and dogmatic about processes if they end up becoming a road-block to the project; we found that the only way to proceed was to look objectively at what needed to be done, when it had to be done by and by working with the client identify what was going to 'flex'.

With regards to the language translation we've learnt to ensure that our clients use a reputable translation agency and to make sure that a native language speaker is able to check and validate any translations before development commences.

The rewards

Have been amazing! It's fantastic to work as a global team, to see your work being used to by a huge variety of people in a mixture of roles and organisations. There are always things to learn and with each project it opens our eyes to new ways of designing and developing solutions to suit the ever evolving and changing profile of our clients.
